Kuwait’s new flagship marathon, IAAF/ AIMS certified course is set to take place at the recently inaugurated Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah Causeway across Kuwait Bay. Join this exciting adventure of running the first second ‘Kuwait Marathon’ and extend your trip for Christmas further abroad.

For many years Kuwait was only famous for its oil, but have been growing tourism as an industry for a couple of decades and is now one of the most fascinating places in the Arabic world for a mixture of budget and luxury travel packages.

FLIGHTS & ARRIVAL
Flights are not included due to multiple departure points of runners & supporters. We recommend you fly into Kuwait international Airport (KWI) on the morning of Thursday 17 December 2020 to join other runners and supporters. We are able to advise or assist with flights and charge a nominal administration fee for flight bookings.

The Kuwait Marathon races are held under the rules of International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF).
The Kuwait Marathon is a Two Oceans Marathon and Comrades Marathon qualifier, the route is fast and ideal for a personal best, PB!

RACE PRE-ENTRY OPEN & CLOSE DATES

- Late entry fees apply from October 2020
- Registration closes on early December 2020 or sooner if the event is fully booked
- The race offers the opportunity to participate as a contender. A contender will start in a preferred and pre-assigned wave. During the registration process, the athlete needs to demonstrate an official published qualifying time. The QT for the marathon distance is 3:40:00 (Male) and 4:45:00 (Female).
There are no late entries, no refunds and no substitutions are permitted.

Hotels and restaurants normally include a 15 percent tip with the final bill. Small tips are appreciated by guides and porters
The government of Kuwait imposes strict fines for drinking alcohol in public and it is not served in hotels and restaurants. You should also not bring alcohol into the country.
Kuwait does not impose formal dress rules. Long pants are recommended and headscarf for ladies to visit mosques and religious sites
Unmarried citizens may not sharing the same room in a hotel, Kuwait people are conservative
All foreign passengers to Kuwait must hold return/onward tickets, the necessary travel documentation for their next destination, and proof of sufficient funds to cover their expenses while in the country. Most foreign nationals can obtain a three-month tourist visa on arrival. Visas may also be obtained prior to departure from one’s country of origin, as are e-visas. NOTE: It is highly recommended that your passport has at least six months validity remaining after your intended date of departure from your travel destination. Immigration officials often apply different rules to those stated by travel agents and official sources.
